Sunstar Paramedics honored by Pinellas County HCA Hospitals

September 24, 2014

Sunstar Paramedics team members Lacy Sims, Alex Pajil, Josh Brumwell and Julia Watson were recognized as HCA Pinellas County EMS All Stars for exemplifying dedication and expertise which is the epitome of HCA’s core values of service.

Lacy, a paramedic, and Alex, an EMT, received this award for providing quality patient care and exemplary service to the community. In March, they responded to and transported an elderly gentleman who was in cardiac arrest. Although the patient did not survive, the team’s dedication to providing the best care possible had a profound impact on the family. Shortly after the call, the family contacted Sunstar supervision to recognize the team for their compassion and kindness to the family as well as their determined efforts to save their loved one.

Josh, a paramedic, and Julia, an EMT, were honored with this award because of their dedication to service. In April, the team saw a young woman sitting on the ledge of Interstate 375. There had not been a 911 call, but they thought she appeared to be in distress. She was depressed and contemplated taking her life. They provided her care with compassion, respect and kindness and transported her to the hospital to receive the help she needed. Their desire to go above and beyond their assigned job duties led them to discover she needed immediate assistance and allowed them to provide the care necessary.
