Sunstar Paramedics earns American Heart Association recognition

May 20, 2015

Sunstar Paramedics has received Gold level recognition in the American Heart Association’s 2015 Mission: Lifeline EMS program. The Mission: Lifeline program works with emergency medical service organizations and medical centers to improve prompt and effective treatment of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), the most deadly form of a heart attack.

Gold is the program’s highest level of achievement. Sunstar Paramedics was one of only four EMS organizations in Florida to receive the Gold level of recognition.

An EMS organization must achieve a 75 percent or greater compliance with each measure for care outlined by the American Heart Association over the past two years in order to qualify for the Gold level recognition. The organization must have also treated at least eight STEMI patients each year in that two-year timeframe.
