Healthcare providers are required to document a patient’s symptoms and each action taken in his care, including medicines, test results and procedures. Doctors, nurses and medical teams rely on the electronic patient care reports (ePCR) provided by Sunstar Paramedics to decide the best medical treatment based on the patient’s history and the emergency care provided. While it may seem like lengthy paperwork, this report can help a patient quickly and seamlessly transition from Sunstar Paramedics to a hospital.

Last month, a detailed ePCR made a significant difference in a patient receiving quality care.

Sunstar paramedic David Garcia had transported a patient experiencing cardiac abnormalities to Mease Countryside Hospital, and the physician assistant who took over patient care wasn’t able to reproduce the cardiac events to know how to proceed with treatment. He needed to consult the detailed narrative in Garcia’s ePCR in order to properly assess the patient and provide appropriate care.

The physician assistant called the Sunstar Communications Center and said Garcia’s narrative “was the best I’ve ever seen in my career; it made all the difference in treating this patient.”

Sunstar Paramedics is proud of the patient care that employees provide to Pinellas County. The Sunstar Care Plus Award is an internal award used to recognize Sunstar Paramedics employees for their excellence in patient care, professionalism and efficiency. Award winners are nominated by their co-workers and selected by Sunstar’s employee engagement and retention committee.
