Sunstar Paramedics Critical Care Transport RN Doug Frost has been selected by the Florida Ambulance Association to receive the 2020 Star of Life Award. This is the first time that the Florida Association will present this award for improving public health, having a positive impact in the community such as cardiac arrest resuscitations or showing exceptional care and compassion.
Doug was chosen for his dedication to be the best he can be and for offering outstanding patient care to the community he serves.
Doug has been performing pre-hospital care since 1980 when he started as an EMT. He quickly became certified as a paramedic in 1981 and moved into the critical care flight industry where he was a chief flight paramedic and medical coordinator. Doug went on to obtain his nursing license in 2005 which ultimately led to his position at Sunstar Paramedics as the Critical Care Team RN Clinical and Operational Supervisor.
“Doug has been a tremendous leader for our organization. He always comes through for every patient, every crew member, on every occasion. His relentless dedication and commitment without complaint are nothing short of amazing,” said Sunstar director of clinical services Jeremy Tinter.
Tinter also recognized Doug’s leadership, dedication and compassion for the people we serve and the EMS profession overall.
The award was presented on January 28, 2020 at the Aloft Downtown Tallahassee hotel during the Florida Ambulance Association awards breakfast. The awards ceremony was followed by the opportunity for award winners to meet with Florida legislative leaders.
