Sunstar Paramedics teaches Pinellas County teachers hands-only CPR

August 12, 2019

On August 8, Sunstar Paramedics trained all Pinellas County eighth grade health teachers Hands-Only CPR, which is an easy and effective way to double to triple the chance of survival for someone who experiences a heart attack. The “train the trainer” presentation taught educators the proper Hands-Only CPR technique, and prepared them to instruct eighth grade students in Hands-Only CPR as part of the health class curriculum this school year.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), approximately 90% of people who suffer from out-of-hospital (park, school, home, etc.) cardiac arrest die. Performing CPR, especially in the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. Hands-Only CPR is done without mouth-to-mouth motions and it’s easily performed in two steps.

Sunstar Paramedics provides Hands-Only CPR training through AHA’s Hands-Only CPR program.
